JAKARTA – The official website of the House of Representatives (DPR) couldn’t be accessed. The browser engine tried to reload the DPR page, but it failed and displayed the ‘Connection Timed Out’ statement. Dpr.go.id was allegedly hacked and taken over by hackers.
Through social media Twitter, an account called @ AnonConf0rmity claims to have taken over the DPR site. According to the account, the hacking was part of a protest against the bill of Pancasila Ideology Guidelines or RUU HIP.

The bill was considered to threaten or reform the nation’s ideology. “We are the Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget,” said the Twitter account.
According to the DPR Secretary-General, Indra Iskandar, he didn’t know the details of the hacking problem. However, the DPR will coordinate to find out why the website cannot be accessed.
The discussion of the RUU HIP is known to have become a polemic. Some parties criticized the substance in the draft bill that was first proposed by the parliamentarian.
The Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security (Menko Polhukam), Mahfud MD, said the government had decided to postpone the discussion of the RUU HIP. The government asked the DPR to hold more dialogues and absorb more aspirations from the public regarding the draft bill.
“So the government didn’t send a presidential letter for the discussion. That is the procedural aspect,” Mahfud told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 16.
